About Us

Jean Shannly School of Dancing was established in 1982 by Jean Shannly a very well known and respected figure within the Dancing community. Jean retired from competitive dancing and devoted her time to teaching her daughter Rachel, herself now a fully qualified teacher of over 25 years standing.

Jean is a Fellow of the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing (UKA). She is also a qualified examiner. She has raised over £30,000 for local good causes thanks to her annual charity show.

The Jean Shannly School runs regular dancing classes for students of all ages and abilities, catering for ages from 2½ years upwards, from absolute beginner to pupils accepted by Scottish Ballet. We also offer courses leading to professional teaching qualifications in Highland, Tap, and Ballet.

Where We Are

Based in Linlithgow, we run weekly classes at local venues Monday to Saturday. Individual private tuition is also available on request.

Classes

Classes are small in number to ensure that each pupil is able to achieve their full potential. All classes are taken by a fully qualified teacher and no unqualified or student teachers are used under any circumstances. If the need arises for a student teacher to work with children to gain experience, volunteers will be sought and classes run at no cost to the children involved.
